White – a noble tea color

In our last post, we delved into the diverse world of tea processing with oolong. Now we turn our attention to a type of tea that reveals its elegance in its simplicity – white tea.

Young buds, ancient craftsmanship

Of all the methods used in tea production, the production of white tea seems relatively simple. And that is precisely why a successful, high-quality white tea requires exquisite skill. Here, too, it all starts with the tea plant.

For high-quality white teas, only the young leaf buds are harvested. These are covered with a white downy fuzz, whose light sheen gives white tea its name. The buds are briefly heated to prevent oxidation. They are then gently dried.

Gentle, delicate, and luxurious

The result is a tea with intact leaves that shimmer silvery. Due to their minimal processing, white teas have a delicate and slightly floral taste, sometimes reminiscent of peaches. With a very light, subtle champagne color in the cup, white tea conveys a sense of understated luxury in every situation.
