More than Organic – Responsibility for People and Nature

Tea and coffee are natural products – their taste, aroma, and quality are not created in a lab, but in fields and gardens managed with respect for both the environment and people. That is why we advocate for organic cultivation.

In certified organic farming, producers forgo synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Instead, natural methods are used: compost, intercropping, crop rotation, and a lot of manual labor ensure that plants can grow in healthy soils at their own pace. The result: distinctive, varietal teas and coffees with pure flavor.

As a company, we promote this sustainable approach not only by specifically purchasing organic-certified goods but also through long-term collaboration with producers who share the same values. This supports transparent supply chains, better social conditions on-site, and the long-term protection of ecological resources.

Sustainability means more to us than just a label – it is a promise to the environment, to our partners in the origin countries, and to everyone who wants to consciously enjoy quality in a cup of tea or coffee.

Committed to Organic – for over 30 years

Sustainability is not a trend for us, but a lived responsibility. As early as the 1990s, F.L. Michaelis was the first company in Germany to import organic tea. Today, around 80% of our teas come from certified organic cultivation – with the share of organic coffee steadily increasing.

When selecting our varieties, we focus on more than just quality: Fair treatment of producers, respectful interaction with nature, and transparent supply chains are a matter of course for us.

Despite current challenges such as climate change, raw material prices, and bureaucracy, we remain true to our path – reliable, value-oriented, and forward-looking.

Social Responsibility

The Future Grows Locally

Our responsibility begins where our products originate – in the producing countries. Together with local partners, we are committed to strong, livable, and future-proof communities. A central part of our commitment is the targeted support of women’s cooperatives. When women are economically empowered, entire families and regions benefit.

Equally important to us is access to education – for children as well as adults. Education opens up opportunities, builds self-confidence, and lays the foundation for long-term development. Furthermore, we ensure fair and safe working conditions on-site. Only under dignified conditions can true sustainability emerge.

This commitment goes far beyond product quality. It fosters trust, partnership, and opportunities – not just for today, but for future generations. Together with the people on-site, we build stable structures based on personal responsibility, respect, and long-term cooperation. This creates added value that goes well beyond the product – from the origin to the end customer.
